Membership and Sharing

Invite your team, assign roles, and manage access to your organization.

Threaded is designed for collaborative teams. Members are added to an organization with a specific role that determines what they can see, edit, and manage. Understanding roles is key to setting up your team correctly and ensures engineers and process owners have the access they need to build and improve, while operators always work from a clean, controlled view of the current process.

#Roles in Threaded

Threaded has three roles, each with a different level of access:

CapabilityOperatorEditorOwner
View Production instructions
Create and comment on Actions
Edit work instructions and process maps
Engage with the AI Assistant
Open and review Change Requests
Run Process CI checks
Participate in CR conversations
Approve CRs
Invite new members
Configure Version Control settings
Assign and change roles
Disable members

The creator of an organization is by default the Owner, but multiple users can hold the Owner role in an organization. This role can only be granted or removed by another Owner.

For a detailed breakdown of what Operators can see and do, see Operator Mode.

#Inviting Members

Only Owners can invite new members to an organization. To add a member, navigate to Admin > Members and click + Add New Member. Enter the new member’s email address and select their role, then click Add.

An invitation email will be sent to the provided address. When the recipient accepts the invitation, they will be guided through setting up their Threaded account if they don’t already have one, and will then have access to the organization with the assigned role.

Members can be added as Owner, Editor, or Operator at the time of invitation. Roles can be updated at any time by the Owner from the Members page.

#Removing Members

Only the Owner can remove members from an organization. To remove a member, navigate to Admin > Members, open the 3-dot menu next to the member, and select the option to disable them.

Disabled members lose access to the organization immediately but are not permanently deleted. Their past contributions—comments, Actions, and Change Requests—remain visible and attributed to them in the organization’s history. Disabled members appear under the Disabled tab on the Members page, which is only visible to Owners.

#AI Usage

AI usage across the organization is tracked and visible to the Owner under Admin > Usage. The usage table shows each AI interaction by date, member, model, token count, and cost, giving you a clear view of how AI is being used across your team. Usage data can be exported as a CSV for further analysis or reporting.

AI usage is included as part of your Threaded subscription. For more information on plans and billing, see Subscriptions.
